Just a little about the author and creator of the Black Dogs
Hello, and a warm welcome from me, Dave Atkinson.
Thank you for stopping by one of the Black Dog sites (there are three, plus our forum and the Trading Room) all sites are very similar in their make-up and should you become a member then the only sites you need are the forum and eventually the Trading Room.
My trading experience spans about 15 years although in the very early days trading was certainly not as frequent as it is now probably owing to the fact that I know exactly what I'm doing these days..!! The last seven trading years or so have been very good to me which roughly equates to the emergence of the Black Dogs. When I started out I would trade anything that could be charted - anything! Now, I stick to three currency pairs and the Dow Jones index. It is enough for me as the 'hunger' has diminished a little. ''It's not about how many pips you make - it's what those pips are worth..!!''
Engineering has been the main focus throughout my working life but I never did like the idea of working for another - the chances of making really good money were small. Enter - the stock market. US stocks to be exact. Dabbled with these for a number of years and lost quite a bit (hmmm) same old story for just about everyone I reckon. Then of course, the Black Dogs appeared and the rest, as they say, is history.
Born in Scarborough, N Yorks in the UK, I 'endured' a variety of jobs including factory work, seismic, oil platforms, Health and Safety Advisor, taxi driver, supermarket manager, blah, blah, blah... and now forex trader - wey hey..!! Trading has allowed me to move to a better climate here in sunny Spain but whether I stay here or not is another matter. I certainly will not be moving back to the UK.
My interests are varied but I tend to drop everything for football. The proper sort. I play a bit of classical guitar but seem to have come to a plateau although I haven't picked one up for a year or two - will start again soon I hope. I read a lot, like puzzles, quizzes, and anything interesting. Forex is the hardest puzzle to date. Have I cracked the puzzle? I think so.
Most of my time these days is spent trading those four instruments, spending time in our Trading Room, and running the forum (with some very able assistance). I like to assist our new members with their trading, which I reserve for the evenings usually, but for the last year or so the Black Dog senior members have brilliantly made themselves available to all members which takes a great weight off my shoulders with the added bonus that our members receive a variety of trading styles.
To make the Black Dogs available to the general trading public was actually at the request of a well-known trader of whom I asked to check the system over as I was getting some seriously good results. Otherwise I would still be trading alone so huge thanks go to him. Since those early days I have made many many new trading friends around the globe and we speak regularly although I have yet to meet most in person. We have improved the system from those early beginnings and, not to put too fine a point on it, I will trade nothing else in this life time.
Not wanting to waffle on too much, I'll draw to a close. But I'll just finish by adding that with having contact with traders from all around the globe, helping them, assisting, or simply discussing trading - it has helped enormously in my trading too. I thank you all for that.
Until the market opens....
Dave
